Involve children in reading the book by having them make the sounds of the chick and dog. Explain to children, when you point to the chick—they will whisper, “Tippy-toe, Tippy-toe” and when you point to the dog—they will loudly say, “Ruff-Rup-yip-yip-yip” like a dog barking.
This book prompts good discussions about how even the littlest family members can help out. Help families brainstorm ways to recognize young children’s contributions to the family. Explain the importance of making a child feel like an important part of family no matter how old they are.
