Karl Buesgen
Karl Henry Francis Xavier Buesgen was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on December 25, 1916, to Joseph and Katherine Buesgen. He studied with artists Walter Emerson Baum and John E. Berninger, becoming a Pennsylvania impressionist known for his plein air oil paintings of Lehigh County landscapes. In addition to painting, Buesgen was a piano teacher and served as the organist at Allentown’s Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His lifelong friendship with Berninger shaped his work and connected him to Pennsylvania’s artistic community. He died in on December 14, 1981, in Allentown.
