Library of Congress State Literacy Award

Seeking PA 2020 Library of Congress State Literacy Award Applications
 
The Pennsylvania (PA) Center for the Book is seeking in-state, nonprofit organization/program applicants for the 2020 Library of Congress State Literacy Award—awarded by the Library of Congress, with the generous support of David. M. Rubenstein, to nonprofit organizations/programs that have made outstanding and innovative contributions to promoting literacy and/or reading in the local community. The PA Center for the Book will select one PA nominee, and from submitted nominations the Library of Congress will select up to 10 state award winners to receive $2,225 each.
 
To be considered for the PA 2020 Library of Congress State Literacy Award nomination, please submit the following by email to PA Center for the Book editor Nicole Miyashiro (nmm16@psu.edu) by Monday, October 21, 2019:
 
  • A statement (200 words max) describing your nonprofit's innovative approaches and dedication to promoting literacy and/or reading in the local community.
  • The full names and contact emails of two local references.
Please note: Only nonprofit organizations/programs currently headquartered and operating in Pennsylvania will be considered. Individuals and for-profits are ineligible.
 
The PA Center for the Book will announce and submit for consideration one nominee by December 13, 2019. The Library of Congress State Literacy Awards Program judges will then announce state winners in March 2020.
